What are wall decals?

Wall decals are printed stickers you can use to easily add some personality to your space. Here at Lime & Lou, you can even have them personalized with your kids' names or initials to get that super-unique look. Plus, they're PVC free, which means they're healthy and safe for use in kids rooms.

Pick your design

We asked our in-house designer, Dean Aidinger, to give us his tips for finding the perfect design for your personalized wall stickers: "Look for a design that is appropriate to your child's age and interests - but also think forward a few years. For example, if your 9-year-old loves animals or outer space, find stickers with those themes in mind - but remember they'll be teenagers soon, so try and get a design that'll stay relevant even then. Also, match the colors of your room with the decal colors.”

Prep your wall

You'll need a clean, flat surface that's free of dust and debris. Wipe the wall with a damp cloth, then let it dry. If needed, fill any holes or cracks. Measure out where you want the decal to go, then lay it flat on the floor until you've got the design fully aligned. You can use some pieces of tape to keep the stickers from moving as you align and apply them to the wall.

Hang them up

Carefully peel off one side of the first decal to expose the adhesive - then place it in position with the other half still attached. Once you’re sure you got the placement right, take off the rest of the backing paper slowly. Smooth each part of the decal onto the wall before peeling off more of the paper. Use a credit card or some other flat tool to squeeze out any air bubbles. Keep doing that with all pieces until you have the entire decal up.

Need to remove your decals?

Lou’s are removable wall decals, which means you can take them off for repositioning - they're super easy to peel and don't leave any residue. For best results, do this as soon as possible after application. After 2 years the stickers are not as repositionable anymore. Use a flat tool to gently loosen one edge of the decal. Then, slowly start peeling back in one direction while gently pulling with your fingers. Don't just rip it off the surface as that could make some paint come loose, too.
